In Traces in the Still Air, a series of thirty-three tire swings and shards of glass show the trajectory of a life influenced by time, memory, and loss. Every swing represents a year of life, moments experienced, lost, and changed. Tension is created by the glass fragments that are placed underneath the swings, forming a mount. By contrasting broken glass with swings, I consider how both happiness and sorrow influence how we perceive the world and ourselves. Memory is the selective but essential bond that holds our past and present together.
